Many years ago I lived in Alaska on the Bering Sea. I saw all sorts of animals almost daily when living there but I've never once in my life seen a whale in the wild. It's still something I hope to do but my days of living on the coast are long behind me and I'd have to be a special trip just hoping for a glimpse and perhaps a photograph.

Thank you for sharing and have a happy day,

Kate, Aside from being a great naturalist/guide you are an equally great writer. This is my seventh season of Thursday mornings on the Mighty Marietta. While the goal is to see whales and the other wonders off our coast, it is the experience of meeting the visitors and sharing their stories, experiences and wonderment. Language seems to be no barrier to communication on the boat. It makes for a memorable Thursday, regardless of weather, sightings and the vagaries of the sea. Thanks.

Me and my son are mesmerized by Sea Horses. They seem to be such a placid and interesting creatures. They are actually not very good swimmers and tend just to hang around plant life. To date I believe that there are 53 different types of Sea Horse ranging from 1 inch right up to 14 inches. Another interesting fact I found out is that Sea Horses eat almost constantly on mainly plankton. This is because they have no stomach. But the one thing that I really do like about Sea Horses is that they take one partner for life.

Thanks for the info on the pot bellied. I had not heard of these until today. I guess that’s what the net is for .Many thanks
